Sanders Brings Awareness To Fight Against Diabetes

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State pitcher Savannah Sanders and the rest of the Cyclone softball senior class is preparing to play their final home games of the 2019 regular season this weekend vs. Kansas. Saturday's game vs. the Jayhawks will be Diabetes Awareness Day, as a way bringing attention to this disease that has affected Sanders and so many others.
The native of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., discovered she had diabetes during her freshman season at Iowa State, and has battled the condition fiercely ever since – both on and off the field.
Sanders recently sat down with John Walters to discuss her journey, and how she hopes to inspire other young athletes going through similar struggles. Click here to watch the video.
