AMES, Iowa - After a four-match home-stand, the Iowa State volleyball team begins a seven-match road trip. The first stop is a trio of matches at the Applachian Invitational across Friday and Saturday, hosted by Appalachian State.
The Cyclones begin with a doubleheader on Friday with Western Carolina at 11 a.m. Central and the host Mountaineers at 5:30 p.m. Central. On Saturday, the Cyclones will take on North Carolina State at Noon Central.

Iowa State got back to winning ways on Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over in-state rival UNI at Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones were got big contributions from all over the court. For the second-straight match, Eleanor Holthaus got a double-double with 12 kills and a career-high 21 digs, while Piper Mauck got her third-straight double-double with a season-best 48 assists and 10 digs. Freshman Annie Hatch notched a career-high 16 kills, while Josie Herbst joined her in double figures with 14.
Freshman Michal Schuler made her debut at libero for ISU, posting a match-high 24 digs. Izzy Enna finished with 22 digs, 11 coming in the first set.
Iowa State and Western Carolina will be meeting for the first time on Friday. The Cyclones are 2-0 in program history against current members of the Southern Conference, defeating East Tennessee State in 2004 and UNC-Greensboro in 2000.
The Cyclones and host Mountaineers will be meeting for the third time on Friday, with Iowa State having won the previous two meetings in 2008 and 2015. The 2015 meeting, hosted at Virginia, was wild five-set affair. Jess Schaben led the attack with a career-best 28 kills, while Ciara Capezio had a double-double of 17 kills and 21 digs. Caitlin Nolan led the defense with 34 digs.
Saturday will mark the first meeting between Iowa State and North Carolina State. ISU went 1-1 against ACC opponents last season, defeating Virginia but falling to Syracuse. Both those matches took place inside Hilton Coliseum.
