- Sophomore Ashley Joens, has turned heads so far into her sophomore campaign. Recently she was named to the Naismith Midseason Top 30 list and the Cheryl Miller Award Top-10. Joens is currently averaging a double-double with 21.3 points and 10.4 rebounds and has claimed a league-high five Big 12 weekly honors. Joens also ranks seventh in the league in field-goal percentage, 45.7 percent. She has the highest field-goal percentage of any Big 12 guard.
- Joens is currently first in the Big 12 in scoring and fourth in the nation, averaging 21.3 points per game, while her 10.5 rebounds ranks fourth in the Big 12 and 17th nationally, the most of any quard in the league. Joens remains the only player in the NCAA averaging over 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds. Joens is also the only player in the Big 12 ranking in the top-5 in points and rebounds for the season.
- Joens also has a knack for getting to the free-throw line, as she leads the nation with 173 fouls drawn. As a result, she ranks first nationally in free throws made (152), and second-nationally in free throws attempted (187).
- Junior Kristin Scott has put together her best season as a Cyclone, and was named a Top-10 Finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award, which honors the nation's best center. Scott is currently second on the team in scoring, averaging 15.0 points. Scott is also second in rebounding, averaging 7.4 boards per game. Scott has kicked things up a notch since the start of Big 12 play averaging 17.0 points and shot 52.9 percent from the field in Big 12 action.
- Joens and Scott have been one of the best one-two punches in the Big 12. Joens ranks fourth in conference play with 18.9 points, with Scott sixth with 17.0 points per game. The duo are also two of the most efficient in league play, with Scott connecting on 52.0 percent of her shots and Joens 46.2 percent. Both rank thirdd and sixth.
- Senior Adriana Camber has stepped up big in conference action, she ranks third in the Big 12 in 3-point percentage in league contests, shooting at a 42.9 percent clip from beyond the arc. Camber is also averaging 2.25 a game in conference action, which is fourth.
- Since 1999-00, only seven Division I guards or guard/forwards have averaged over 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and shot 45.0 percent from the floor. Joens is currently on pace to do so. She joins Delaware's Elena Delle Donne and former Big 12 Player of the Year Brittney Martin as two of the women's basketball players on the list.
- The 2019-20 season marks the 25th in the tenure of Bill Fennelly. Fennelly has led Iowa State to 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. Fennelly boasts a 520-270 record at Iowa State and a 686-323 record in his 32-year career as a head coach. His 686 career wins lists him in the top-15 in the NCAA among active coaches in Division I and in the top-50 winningest coaches all-time.

- `Both teams struggled for much of the game, with ISU committing 26 turnovers and Texas shooting just 26.9 percent from the field. The Longhorns also took 28 more shots than Iowa State, but the Cyclones' lead proved too much for UT to overcome.
