AMES, Iowa – Iowa State sophomore Thasaporn Naklo continues her ascension in college tennis, rising to No. 27 in the latest ITA singles rankings. Naklo was also a part of a nationally-ranked doubles duo.
Naklo had an impressive fall, finishing 12-3 and becoming the first singles player in school history to earn a spot at the ITA Fall National Championships. Naklo won the ITA Central Regional Championships in convincing fashion, not dropping a set until the finals where she defeated Kansas State's Karine-Marion Job.
The Cyclones also had a pair of doubles teams nationally ranked. Miska Kadleckova and Sofia Cabezas are ranked No. 35 after going 9-3 in doubles action this fall and reaching the Round of 16 at the ITA Fall National Championships.
Kadleckova and Naklo went 2-1 last fall and are No. 47 nationally. The pair played together at the ITA All-American Championships, beating a pair of ranked squads to advance to the quarterfinals.
Iowa State opens the spring on January 22 when it hosts Illinois State and North Dakota at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
