FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas – Iowa State got some strong performances across its squad at the Razorback Invitational on Saturday, finishing a busy weekend of competition against some of college track and field's best teams and performers.
The highlight of Saturday came in the women's 3,000-meter run invitational, with Cailie Logue getting into a Big 12 showdown against Oklahoma State's Gabby Hentemann. The duo separated themselves from the field with three laps to go, Logue on the shoulder of her Cowgirl competitor. The Cyclone star moved around Hentemann and pulled away for the win in a personal best 9:03.49, knocking seven seconds off her pervious best. The mark also moves Logue up to No. 2 in ISU history in the event, with only NCAA Champion and 2012 U.S. Olympian Lisa Koll in front of her.
Assistant Coach Amy Rudolph's women's distance crew was strong across a variety of distances on Saturday. Along with Logue, Dana Feyen had a PR in the 3,000m invitational, taking sixth in 9:22.46. In the women's mile, five of ISU's six put down personal bests, with Janette Schraft leading the group in 10th in 4:46.88.
For the men's distance squad, Thomas Pollard put down a huge PR in the invitational 3,000-meter run, taking 10th place in 7:54.37. His mark entered him onto an elite top-10 list for Cyclone track and field, moving up to No. 6 and knocking two-time Great Britain Olympian Jon Brown off the list. Gable Sieperda also notched a 3K PR, going 8:07.85 in the 3K invitational.
In the multi-events, Thai Thompson wrapped up his first multi as a Cyclone with a personal best 5,267 points to finish seventh, moving up to No. 7 on ISU's all-time top-10. Thompson's day finished strong as he was third among the heptathletes with a 2:38.91 in the 1,000-meter run, over 13 seconds better than his previous best in the 1,000m.

Kiptoo struggled to get to the front of a crowded field and was unable to hang with the pace of the leaders in the final third of the competition.
