IRVING, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced today that eight Iowa State Cyclones have been named to the Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling Teams. Five of the eight are being named to the team for the second time, while a pair earned the honor for the third time.
David Carr, Isaac Judge, Charlie Klepps and Carter Schmidt were all named to the first team. Ethan Andersen, Joel Devine, Andrew Huddleston and Ian Parker were all named to the second team. This is the third time Carr and Parker have been named to the team, with Carr being a first team selection for the first time. Judge and Andersen were first team selections last season, while Devine was a second team pick in 2020.Â
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
