AMES, Iowa – No. 3 Iowa State was dominant in a 42-0 victory over Northern Colorado Friday night inside Hilton Coliseum. The Cyclones won at all 10 weights, including six victories by bonus-point margin, to secure their first shutout since 2023 (vs. Wisconsin).
The victory marked head coach Kevin Dresser's 100th dual win as head coach of the Cyclones. He is the fourth head coach in program history to reach the milestone, joining Harold Nichols (454), Bobby Douglas (198) and Hugo Otopalik (159).
Iowa State (7-1, 3-0 Big 12) won the takedown battle, 35-1 against the Bears (2-5, 1-2 Big 12).
No. 13 Stevo Poulin got the Cyclones off to a fast start with a first period fall over Bryson Valdez at 125 pounds. Poulin notched his third-consecutive victory and improved his record to 7-5 with his second pin of the season.
In the dual's marquee matchup, No. 3 Evan Frost prevailed in a top-10 battle over No. 9 Dom Serrano via 7-1 decision. Frost was his best late in the periods, recording takedowns in the closing seconds of both the second and third periods. Frost improved to 12-1 on the season.
At 141 pounds, No. 4 Anthony Echemendia picked apart Ramon Salazar, 21-6, in two periods. The Cyclone tallied seven takedowns in the win, including six in the first period, as he improved to 12-1 on the season.
No. 6 Jacob Frost used five takedowns and four near fall points to secure a 19-4 tech fall over KJ Evans at 149 pounds. It marked Frost's fourth tech fall of the season as he improved his record to 10-3.
At 157 pounds, No. 8 Vinny Zerban made it three-straight tech falls for the Cyclones with an 18-3 result over Daishun Powe. It was a 3-1 match following the opening period, but Zerban opened things up late with three third-period takedowns and secured the tech fall with a riding time point.
No. 17 Connor Euton won his fifth-consecutive match with a 19-7 major decision over Kilian Schultz at 165 pounds. Euton, now 11-3 on the season, has 10 bonus-point victories on the year.
Aiden Riggins got the nod at 174 pounds for the Cyclones and earned a hard-fought 3-1 decision over Murphy Menke. Typically a 165-pounder, Riggins improved to 3-1 when wrestling up a weight class.
At 184 pounds, No. 12 Isaac Dean improved to 13-4 on the season with a firm 8-2 decision over Mahonri Rushton. Dean secured takedowns in the first and third periods in the win.
CJ Carter earned his second dual win of the season with a 4-1 decision in overtime over Tyler Perry at 197 pounds.
Crowd favorite and top-ranked heavyweight Yonger Bastida registered the fastest tech fall of his career with seven takedowns in 2:15 for a 21-6 victory over Enzo Cappabianca. It was Bastida's 90th career victory and he now owns a 67:1 takedown ratio this season having not allowed a takedown in 12-consecutive matches.

No. 3 Iowa State is back in action Sunday at 2 p.m. against No. 15 South Dakota State in Humboldt, Iowa. Iowa Public Television will televise the dual from Humboldt High School, the home of Cyclone head coach Kevin Dresser.
