Feyen Leads Iowa State in Raleigh Relays Season Opener

RALEIGH, North Carolina – Iowa State began the outdoor season on Thursday at a pair of meets with some strong performances showing a good path ahead for ISU in the 2022 campaign.
At the Raleigh Relays, Dana Feyen led the way with her eighth-place finish in the 10,000-meter run in 33:37.10, dropping over 85 seconds off her personal best to finish eighth. With her run Feyen enters Iowa State's all-time top-10 for the event, checking in at No. 10 in program history.
Also in Raleigh, the ISU men got a strong effort from Chad Johnson in the 1,500-meter run, as he clocked a personal best 3:42.40 that got him seventh place in Section 14.
At the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State, the Cyclone throwers recorded a pair of top-three finishes in the discus. The Cyclone women saw Emily March take second with a best throw of 169-10 (51.78m), while Kevin Sakson took third in the men's competition with a best throw of 172-10 (52.70m).

Iowa State will be back in action at both the Raleigh Relays and the Bobcat Invitational tomorrow. Competition begins for ISU at both sites at 9 a.m. Central, with the women's 5,000-meter run getting things going in Raleigh, with competition in San Marcos starting with the women's hammer throw.
