Kajuru Named Big 12 Tennis Player of the Week

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State freshman Ange Oby Kajuru has been named Big 12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week after helping the Cyclones to a 2-0 record last week on the road. It is Kajuru's first career weekly honor from the Big 12 and she's the third Cyclone to earn a weekly honor under head coach Boomer Saia.
Kajuru won both singles matches and went 1-0 in doubles play as well.
The Tokyo, Japan, native beat Karlova Yelizaveta, 6-4, 6-0, as the Cyclones (9-0) upended No. 50 VCU for their third-straight ranked win. In doubles action against the Rams, Kajuru teamed up with Chie Kezuka to win 6-2.
Against William & Mary, Kajuru beat Hedda Gurholt, 7-6 (7-3), 5-7, 6-2, to improve to 6-1 in singles action.
Kajuru and Kezuka are 8-0 in doubles action this season.
The Cyclones host Wisconsin on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Life Time Fitness in Urbandale.
