SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Iowa State junior Taglao Jeeravivitaporn and sophomore Ruby Chou opened play Friday at the NCAA Women's Golf Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club.
Jeeravivitaporn shot a 77 in the opening round, as she is tied for 81st at five-over par. Chou is just a stroke behind Jeeravivitaporn, as her 78 puts in her a tie 93rd at six-strokes over par.
Starting on the first tee box, Jeeravivitaporn had two birdies in her first four holes, as she finished the front nine even. Chou also started on the first hole and was three over on the front nine and the back nine. Chou had birdies on the par five seventh and 18th.
Jeeravivitaporn will tee off at 10:20 a.m. (CT) on Saturday on the 10th tee, while Chou will follow at 10:31 a.m. (CT). Stroke play will continue on Saturday and Sunday, with the top nine individuals on non-advancing teams moving on to Monday's final round.
