AMES, Iowa – Iowa State was tabbed the No. 4 seed in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Softball Championship later this week in Oklahoma City. The Cyclones will open the tournament Thursday, May 12 at noon against No. 5 Baylor at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex, with the winner advancing to the semifinals.
It marks Iowa State's highest seed in Big 12 Championship in program history.

ISU finished the regular season 27-26 overall and 6-12 in league play. The Cyclones got hot down the stretch, winning six of their last eight games, including back-to-back series wins against Baylor and Kansas.
The Championship will debut a new single-elimination format this year with the regular-season champion earning a first-round bye. The winner will receive the Big 12's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division I Softball Championship.
