AMES, Iowa – Iowa State great Bridget Carleton will once again get the opportunity to represent her native Canada at the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Australia and beginning this week in Sydney, Australia.
Carleton and the Canadians will play five games in pool play, starting on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. Central Time against Serbia. The Canadians will follow with group games against France (Friday, 3 a.m. Central), Japan (Sunday, 5:30 a.m.), Australia (Monday, 5:30 a.m.) and Mali (Tuesday, 1 a.m.). The top four teams in each six-team group will advance to the quarterfinals, which begin on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Carleton has continued to be a mainstay of the Canada Senior National Team, having played 54 games for the Canadians, including starting all three of their games at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan last year. This will be Carleton's second World Cup with Canada, having played with the team during the 2018 tournament in Spain which saw Canada finish seventh.
Canada enters the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup at No. 4 in the world rankings.
Carleton just wrapped up her fourth season in the WNBA with the Minnesota Lynx. Across 36 games, Carleton made two starts and averaged 4.3 points per game.
During her time as a Cyclone, Carleton was the 2019 Cheryl Miller Award winner and Big 12 Player of the Year, earning Second Team All-America honors from ESPNW and the Associated Press, along with Third Team All-America honors for the USBWA. A three-time All-Big 12 First Team selection, Carleton ranks third in Iowa State history with 2,142 career points.
