Cyclone Men Run to Top-15 Finish Against Loaded Nuttycombe Field

MADISON, Wisconsin – The Iowa State men's cross country team picked up big points with a 13th-place team finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday afternoon. Said Mechaal led the Cyclones with a top-15 finish individually with a time of 23:44.0.
Sanele Masondo and Gable Sieperda finished within three seconds of each other in the top-90 as Masondo was 80th (24:17.1) and Sieperda followed in 87th (24:20.2). Ezekiel Rop was the fourth finisher for Iowa State in 24:25.8 for 114th while Rodgers Kiplimo rounded out the top-five Cyclones in 134th place (24:35.1).
In the B race, Devan Kipyego led the Cyclones with a time of 25:41.0 for 30th while Quinton Orr edged teammate Ryan Watts at the finish line in 26:07.9. Watts finished in 26:08.2.

For the first time since 2018, Iowa State will host the Big 12 Championships. The men's 8K race will begin at 10 a.m. on October 28th at the Iowa State Cross Country Course with the women's 6K following at 11 a.m.
