Iowa State University will host the Big 12 Championships on Saturday for the first time since 2018. The Cyclones enter the high-level competition ready to face three top-10 teams in the men's race and two top-10 teams on the women's side.Â

The Cyclone women finished 11th at the Nuttycombe Invitational while the men were 13th in loaded fields. The then-No. 13 Iowa State women up-ended No. 8 Washington and No. 10 Colorado in the team standings. Madelynn Hill was a top-40 finisher for the Cyclones with a 6K time of 20:36.9 in rainy conditions. The men also finished above several higher-ranked teams despite entering the meet as the No. 23-ranked team in the country. Said Mechaal was the top finisher for ISU and ran to a 15th-place finish with a time of 23:44.0.Â

Iowa State faces some of the nation's top talent at the Big 12 Championships this weekend. Both Cyclone squads rank 17th in the nation according to the latest USTFCCCA coaches poll. Other Conference foes in the include the Oklahoma State and BYU men and women as well as the Texas men.

Cyclone Men and Women Both 17th in Latest USTFCCCA Coaches Poll
Following the Nuttycombe Invitational at Wisconsin two weeks ago, both Iowa State cross country squads rank in the top-20 nationally. The Cyclone men moved up six spots to 17th in the national ranking and held steady at No. 2 in the Midwest region. The Cyclone women were also slated 17th nationally and second regionally.
Keeney Claims Big 12 Weekly Honors
Sophomore Ashlyn Keeney picked up her first career Big 12 Runner of the Week award following a fourth-place finish at the Greeno-Dirksen Invitational. The North Liberty, Iowa native finished the women's 5K in 17:22.2 to lead the Cyclones to their second team win in as many meets.
Hill Earns First Big 12 Weekly Award
Following a solid performance at the season opener, Madelynn Hill was selected as the Big 12 Women's Runner of the Week. It marks the first time in her career that she's earned the honor. Hill was the top scoring individual finisher and runner-up at the Cyclone preview, finishing 19 seconds ahead of teammate Dana Feyen in third place.
