Iowa State vs. UCF Primer

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (18-9, 9-7 Big 12) closes regular season this week with two home matches. First up, the Cyclones host the UCF Knights Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. before meeting Cincinnati Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.

By the Numbers

1 – Christy Johnson-Lynch is now one Big 12 victory away from holding the fourth-most outright by a volleyball head coach in league history. Johnson-Lynch totaled her 201^st victory at No. 21 Houston to tie for No. 4.

3 – Iowa State has three Top-25 wins this season; vs. No. 14 Kansas, vs. No. 18 Baylor and at No. 21 Houston.

4 – Nayeli Gonzalez has earned four Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors, becoming the second in ISU history to earn four. The next highest in the conference in 2023 is two.

The 2023 Cyclones

In Iowa State's last outing, the Cyclones sealed the second ranked win in a week picking up the road win over No. 21 Houston. It was ISU's third Top-25 victory of the season and 44^th ranked win under Johnson-Lynch. ISU improved to 6-1 in five-set matches and went 2-2 in the stretch of four straight matches vs. ranked opponents.

Jordan Hopp hit 22 kills at .367 and totaled 12 blocks last week at No. 5 Texas and No. 21 Houston. In the win at Houston, Hopp had a career-high tying 14 kills at .462 and a career-high seven block assists. Hopp now totals 95 blocks and 177 kills at an efficiency of .326 on the season.

Annie Hatch led the Cyclones with 11 kills at .320 while Morgan Brandt put up a double-double (33 assists, 10 digs) as ISU took a set at No. 5 Texas last week.

Brooke Stonestreet passed 1,000 career digs at Houston, now totaling 1,016 to rank 16th in ISU history. Stonestreet is the 18th Cyclone to hit 1,000.

UCF (17-10, 8-8 Big 12)

UCF has had five straight matches against ranked opponents and last won on Oct. 27 in four sets to split a series with TCU. UCF ranks first in the conference in aces with 1.98 per set and fourth in Big 12 action with 1.55. UCF has four hitters with over 200 kills on the season, led by Emily Wilson with 303 at 3.19 per set.

Iowa State and UCF's only previous meeting happened in 2019 where ISU fell in five sets at the Rebel Invitational hosted by Ole Miss. This will be UCF's first trip to Ames.
