No. 6 Iowa State Cruises Past No. 59 Baylor

WACO, Texas – No. 6 Iowa State bounced back Sunday and earned a 6-1 win against No. 59 Baylor and pick up the first road victory in Waco in school history. ISU moves up to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

With the win today, head coach Boomer Saia picked up his 14^th Big 12 win, setting a new school record. Prior to Saia's tenure, Iowa State had never defeated a current or former conference opponent from the state of Texas, in five seasons he now owns seven wins against those teams.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After struggling against Texas on Friday, Iowa State had control of Sunday's match from the beginning.

The Cyclones clinched the doubles point with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3. The Cyclones improved to 12-0 this season when clinching the doubles point.

In singles play, the Cyclones took victories on four of five courts. Junior Sofia Cabezas was the first to finish as she quickly took care of Paula Barañano, 6-0, 6-1.

After wins by No. 96 Miska Kadleckova and Anna Supapitch Kuearum on courts No. 3 and No. 4, Baylor was able to get a point back in the team score as No. 124 Alina Shcherbinina was able to take down No. 51 Thasaporn Naklo.

With a win by default in the third set against the Bear's Anita Sahdiieva, Kajuru is now six wins away from the school record of wins at the No. 2 singles spot.

To close out the outing, Chie Kezuka picked up a victory against Danielle Tuhten, finishing with a score of, 7-5, 6-2.
