The Series
The Cyclones are looking for their first-ever program win against the Cowgirls this Friday as Iowa State is currently 0-49 all-time against Oklahoma State. Head coach Boomer Saia and his team nearly came out on top last year, falling 4-3 in a match that went down to the last few courts.
Against Oklahoma, Iowa State has a program record of 1-47, with its lone win coming in April of 2001.
Last Time Out
Last weekend, Iowa State split its matches against then No. 14 Texas and No. 59 Baylor, making them 13-3 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 play. To read more about last weekend, click here.
Player to Watch
After her win last Sunday against Baylor's Danielle Tuhten, senior Chie Kezuka is now 15-7 in her career in singles against Big 12 opponents, tying her for the most conference wins in program history. With a victory this weekend, Kezuka would set a new program record for career singles wins against conference foes, passing Erin Karonis (15-28).
The senior from Fujisawa, Japan would also move up in a few more places in the record books with a win this weekend. Kezuka is currently 73-44 overall in her singles matches and one victory would give her lone control of the No. 4 spot in school history. Additionally, she has the chance to tie Patti Paone in dual meet career singles wins at the No. 4 spot with 50.
Cyclone Tennis Quick Hit
Iowa State is trending towards posting a winning record at home, on the road and at neutral sites in the same season for the first time since 1984-85 and just the second time in school history. What makes this stat even more impressive is the Iowa State currently boasts a record of 8-3 against ranked opponents and 7-3 against school's that qualified for the NCAA tournament last season.
