STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Iowa State (0-2, 0-0 Big 12) fell to Penn State (4-0, 0-0 Big Ten) by a score of 196.150-196.625 on Friday evening.
"This team showed tremendous growth. They showed this preseason that we put in the work. This team came out tonight and showed plenty of grit. We have many more opportunities to continue to build. To go 196 ... that is not even a fraction of what this team is capable of," said Coach Ashley Miles Greig.
Iowa State went on the road for the first time this season. The top score of the night came from freshman Noelle Adams once again with her 9.900 on vault. Last season ISU scored a 196-plus just once (in meet nine) and has done so just two meets in.
The Cyclones got a great showing from Senior Kaia Parker this evening, as she scored 9.850 and higher on both her events. First came on vault with a 9.850 and later in the night on the floor her routine was the top score for ISU of 9.875.

Iowa State was extremely strong on vault with every gymnast scoring 9.825 and higher. This was highlighted by Noelle Adams 9.900 and two 9.850 first from Paige Wills then later by Kaia Parker.

On the bars, Laura Cooke led the way once again with her second consecutive 9.850 to begin the season. Four other Cyclones were able to score 9.800 or higher including a new career high for Hannah Loyim with a 9.825.

ISU ended the night on beam. Hannah led the way for the Cyclones, scoring a 9.850. This capped off an impressive all-around performance from Loyim. Josie Bergstrom made her season debut on the beam with a 9.825.
