STILLWATER, Okla. – The Iowa State tennis team fell to No. 40 BYU at the Big 12 Championships on Wednesday, 4-0, concluding the season 4-17 overall.
BYU got on the board first when Valeska San Martin and Juliette Nask fell to Bobo Huang and Kaavya Sawhney, 6-0. Because the Cyclones were playing without a No. 3 doubles pair, the win allowed the Cougars to clinch the doubles point and take a 2-0 lead heading into singles with a forfeit at No. 6 singles as well.
Nask went up against Sawhney in singles at the No. 3 singles spot. She battled hard but dropped the match, 6-0, 6-2. This win put BYU within one win of clinching the match as they took a 3-0 lead in the match.
Anna Supapitch Kuearum faced off against Huang for the second time this year at the No. 1 singles spot. The junior from Bangkok, Thailand played two hard-fought sets but ultimately dropped both, 6-4, 6-4. This allowed BYU to clinch the match, 4-0.
All other singles matches were abandoned after BYU clinched the match.
