Christy Johnson-Lynch continues her 20th season leading Iowa State, a program she has transformed. Johnson-Lynch holds 371 career victories (.648 winning percentage), with 203 of those being Big 12 wins to rank fourth in all-time conference history. Iowa State totals 10 20-win seasons under Johnson-Lynch, including the past two seasons.
Last weekend at the Cyclone Invite, Pam McCune put up the first 10-block match by a Cyclone since Aug. 31, 2019 totaling 10 (2 solo, 8 assists) vs. Illinois. The sophomore averaged 1.36 blocks/set last week, leading all Big 12 players.
True freshman libero Rachel Van Gorp totaled 46 digs at 3.54 per set and served nine aces last week. Van Gorp had her first 20-dig match vs. Wake Forest, while serving to five aces.
Morgan Brandt stands 100 assists away from hitting 2,000 on her career. The junior's 1,900 ranks 12th in school history.
The Opponent
Iowa comes into the matchup with a 3-1 record, with wins over Liberty, Providence, Delaware and Cal Baptist and a lost to San Jose State. Iowa's setter, Claire Ammeraal who transferred from Central Michigan, leads the Hawkeyes this season in kills with 44 at a .348 clip. Hawkeye libero Joy Galles, an Arizona transfer, has totaled 71 digs averaging 3.74 per set. Hannah Whittingstall, a transfer from SMU, leads Iowa with 23 total blocks across 19 sets.
