Cyclones Finish Tied for Fifth At Bearcat Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cyclones conclude their first time competing in the Bearcat Invitational, tying for fifth place with Furman and carding a score of 860 (284-289-287). Louisville takes home the title with a score of 846 (-6), beating host Cincinnati by six strokes.Â
Paul Beauvy finished tied for sixth, his seventh top-10 finish of his career. Beauvy led the Cyclones, carding a 211 (68-72-71) and tallied ten birdies over the three rounds.
Owen Sawyer jumped up the leaderboard and found his way into the top-10 for the first time as a Cyclone after carding a 68 today, which included four birdies and an eagle in the last round. This was Sawyer's fifth eagle of his career.
Luke Gutschewski ended the event tied for 24th, scoring a 216 (69-72-75) and tallying ten birdies. Zach May was steady over the three rounds, carding a 75-74-73, and finishing in a tie for 60th.
Luke Metcalf placed 90th, and tallied six birdies. Dianchao Wu played as an individual and had his best finish of his career, tying for 24th with a 216. Wu carded a 69 in the final round, his third round in the 60's and had eight birdies across the event.Â
The Cyclones come back to Iowa and will look to defend their title at the Zach Johnson Invitational in West Des Moines. The tournament begins on Monday, Sept. 23 and will wrap up on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Â
