AMES, Iowa -Â The Iowa State Cyclones open the 2024-25 campaign at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in Lake Elmo, Minn. The Cyclones return a core group in Pammy Chookaew, Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn and Keeley Marx. Chul-Ak-Sorn is a Big 12 Champion, with Chookaew earning runner-up honors, while Marx has played in the US Open. Â
COURSE INFORMATION
This 18-hole championship-caliber course features five tee boxes, bent-grass fairways and generous landing areas, allowing golfers of all experience levels to test their skills. The first nine holes, known as the Queen's Nine, were designed by Annika Sörenstam, and the last nine, known as the King's Nine, were designed by the late Arnold Palmer. As Arnold's last course, and Annika's first in the U.S., Royal Golf Club presents golf enthusiasts with a one-of-a-kind experience.
KEY STORYLINES
-Iowa State qualified for its 14th-straight NCAA Regional last season. Overall, it was the 18th appearance in program history.
-At the 2023 Big 12 Championship, the Cyclones finished second behind Texas. The Cyclonitas shot an 863 over three rounds, including a 283 in the second round.Â
-Iowa State has placed in the Top 10 for every season opener in the past seven years.Â
-Chul-Ak-Sorn has placed in the Top-15 in her first tournament in each of her first two seasons.
-Chul-Ak-Sorn led the Cyclones in stroke average at 71.85 last season, the second-lowest in program history behind her 70.56 as a freshman. The reigning Big 12 Champion, Chul-Ak-Sorn has the lowest career stroke average in school history at 71.24. Her career average is the 11th-lowest in NCAA history and the third-lowest among active NCAA players.Â
-Pammy Chookaew's 73.98 career stroke average ranks sixth in school history.
-Keeley Marx played in the 79th US Open this summer, where she placed 135th. She finished 13th among amateurs in the field.
