Leading Off: The Cyclones return to Hilton Friday night, a week after last Friday's win against Simpson, in front of the largest Beauty and the Beast crowd in program history. The Cyclones will look to continue their winning streak on Friday evening against Big 12 newcomer Arizona State Sun Devils in the home conference opener.
The Cyclones once again had strong showings on floor and vault last time out, with senior Rachel Wilke earning the floor title. Freshman Haylee Hardin continues to be a strong gymnast for the team as the anchor in those two events. ISU looks to keep climbing the rankings with a solid score tomorrow.Â
Arizona State joined the Big 12 this year and is currently ranked 28th. The Sun Devils currently average a score of 195.383 per meet. Last time out, Arizona State fell to fellow Big 12 newcomer Arizona at home.
Storylines:
- Senior Rachel Wilke earned the floor title last week as well as the highest individual score for the Cyclones with a 9.875.
- Freshman Haylee Hardin looks to continue to be a standout for the Cyclones, as she's already earned a pair of 9.9 scores this season.
- Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa continues to compete all-around for ISU – a testament to her work and development over the years.
- Bergstrom-Te Slaa earned three event titles against Simpson, as the Cyclones swept all five events.

- Iowa State returned 10 gymnasts from last year's squad that made the largest improvement in the country.
- ISU has added four freshmen and one transfer for a team of 15.
- The Cyclones returned 10 gymnasts from last year's roster, including standouts Noelle Adams and Josie Bergstrom-Te Slaa. Both Adams and Bergstrom-Te Slaa were named to the Big 12 Preseason Gymnastics team.
- Iowa State's 10 victories last season were tied for the most since it won 20 in 2018.
- Sophomore Noelle Adams claimed 14 event titles last year in her freshman campaign. Those 14 titles were the third-most in program history by a first-year gymnast.
- As a team, ISU claimed 17 event titles last season.
- 2025 will mark the first year that Iowa State competes in a conference schedule, as the additions of Arizona, Arizona State and Utah put the conference at seven teams.
Switching Sides to Arizona State:
- In Arizona State's Jay Santos eighth year as Head Coach, the Sun Devils finished the season ranked No. 16.
- He was awarded Pac-12 Coach of the Year in 2023.
- ASU hasn't had a losing record since 2017, Santos first year as Head Coach.
- Graduate student Sarah Clark was the Sun Devils high scorer at their last meet, with a 9.925 on bars.
