Brown Records Triple-Double in Cyclones' Dominant Victory

AMES, Iowa – No. 16 Iowa State (5-0, 0-0 Big 12) picked up a 98-52 win over Norfolk State (2-3, 0-0 MEAC) Sunday afternoon inside Hilton Coliseum.
Addy Brown headlined the victory, securing just the fourth triple-double in school history and the first of Brown's career with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Audi Crooks recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds on 8-for-8 shooting from the field. Alisa Williams also tallied a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds in just 14 minutes.
How it Happened
Brown opened the game's scoring with a layup to give the Cyclones an early 2-0 lead a minute into the game. Norfolk State answered with a 7-2 run to take the lead back, before the Cyclones responded with an 8-0 run of their own, due in part to three-pointers by Kenzie Hare and Arianna Jackson, to force an early Spartan timeout with 5:31 remaining in the first quarter. ISU would extend its run to 19-4 after the timeout, headlined by two Sydney Harris threes to take a 26-11 lead to the second quarter.
Jada Williams continued the momentum from the first period by sinking a triple to begin the second to extend the lead to 18. The teams traded the next few baskets before Hare's second three of the day would force the Spartans to take their second timeout of the game with the Cyclones leading 36-18. Iowa State would once again take advantage of the timeout, going on a 12-3 run. Crooks would be the first Cyclone to crack double-digit points with a layup to take a 48-21 lead with under two minutes left in the half. Crooks and the Cyclones would take an eventual 53-25 advantage into the break.
Iowa State came out firing in the second half, making four of its first five shots out of the locker room to extend the lead to 62-30. The Spartans would respond with a few baskets of their own, but Hare's fourth three-pointer of the game would help keep the lead at 67-39 heading into a media timeout with 4:11 remaining in the third quarter. The Cyclones closed the final few minutes of the period on an 8-2 run to take a 36-point lead into the fourth.
Brown opened the fourth quarter with a basket and a defensive rebound to secure her first career triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, and just the fourth triple-double in school history. The Cyclones took home the 46-point victory to move to 5-0 on the season.

- Addy Brown recorded Iowa State's first triple-double in over a decade (Nikki Moody vs. Wyoming, Nov. 28, 2014) with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.
- She is the third NCAA women's basketball player to record a triple-double this season (Filipa Barros, California Baptist; Taylor Barbot, College of Charleston).
- Alisa Williams recorded her first career double-double with 11 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
- Brown, Crooks and Williams are the first trio of Cyclones to record double-doubles in the same game since Dec. 18, 2022 against Villanova (Ashley Joens 17 points, 10 rebounds; Emily Ryan 16 points, 10 assists; Stephanie Soares 14 points, 11 rebounds).
