AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State swimming and diving teams continue their seasons this week, splitting the squads between two separate meets. The Cyclone divers head north to Minneapolis for the Minnesota Invitational, while three swimmers, Matilde Geromin, Anja Peck, and Grace Swoboda, travel south to Austin, Texas for the U.S. Open National Championships.
THE OPPONENT - Minnesota Invitational (Diving), US Open National Championships
The Iowa State divers will take on several competitors in Minneapolis, featuring California, Denver, Harvard, UNLV, Minnesota, and Rutgers, giving the Cyclone diving squad a good mid-season test. Going South will be Geromin, Peck, and Swoboda, where they will each compete on one of the biggest stages of the season in Austin, Texas.
LAST TIME OUT - Hawkeye Invitational
The Cyclones are coming off a strong week at the Hawkeye Invitational, where both the swimmers and divers delivered standout performances. Piper Hagen, Emma Kuhn, and Lili Neisser had solid performances in the 100 backstroke, all qualifying for finals. On the diving side, Kate Mitchell highlighted the meet with a fourth place A-final finish on the 3 meter board (310.95), while Iona Moffat, Allyson Blumenfeld, and Abby Tollefson had strong B-final performances. Meanwhile, Anja Peck maintained her early-season strength by posting all-time program marks in the breaststroke events, and Matilde Geromin contributed impactful freestyle and relay swims across prelims and finals.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR - Diving and Breaststroke
In Minneapolis, Iowa State's divers aim to build on their recent success, with strong momentum from athletes like Mitchell, Hazes, Moffat, and Blumenfeld heading into another competitive meet. The focus will be on consistency and growth across each of the boards as the Cyclones continue developing their performances for the postseason. In Austin, all eyes will be on the breaststroke events, as Geromin, Peck, and Swoboda test their skills against national competition.

Following their return from Minneapolis and Austin, the Cyclones turn their focus toward preparing for their next meet of the season, where they will face UNI in Cedar Falls on January 10.
