No. 10 Iowa State travels to Houston for its first Big 12 road test of the season on New Year's Eve. The Cyclones last played in Space City in 2024, taking down the Cougars 76-64 in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
FOUR THINGS
4 – Iowa State junior Addy Brown recorded the fourth triple-double in program history against Norfolk State (Nov. 16), tallying 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. It marks the first time in over a decade that a Cyclone achieved the feat.

Crooks also holds the longest streak by a Big 12 women's basketball player since Brittney Griner's 116-game run from 2010-2013.
SERIES NOTES
Iowa State has started its series with Houston 2-0 since the Cougars joined the Big 12 ahead of the 2023-24 athletic year. The Cyclones have won both contests by double digits, taking home a 12-point victory in 2024 before defeating Houston by 11 in Hilton Coliseum last season. Wednesday's contest marks the first-ever meeting between head coaches Bill Fennelly and Matthew Mitchell.
LAST TIME OUT
A Kenzie Hare 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted No. 10 Iowa State over Kansas, 79-76, to help the Cyclones remain unbeaten on the season. Audi Crooks posted a game-high 41 points on 19-of-28 shooting from the floor for her fourth straight game with 30-plus points. Addy Brown went the distance for ISU, playing all 40 minutes and finishing with 16 points on 7-of-13 field goals and nabbing eight rebounds. Jada Williams posted her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 assists. Hare's buzzer beater was her only basket of the day on just her second attempt. She also tallied three rebounds, two assists and a block in the win.
CYCLONES GARNER PRESEASON ATTENTION
Iowa State's trio of Addy Brown, Audi Crooks and Jada Williams has received national attention in the preseason, appearing on several watch lists and collecting preseason honors. Brown and Crooks were voted to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team and appeared on the Naismith Trophy Preseason, USBWA Ann Meyers Drysdale Award and Wooden Award watch lists. When the Naismith Starting 5 award watch lists were announced, Williams (Nancy Lieberman Award), Brown (Katrina McClain Award) and Crooks (Lisa Leslie Award) were all three selected to their respective position 20-woman watch lists.
CHANGING OF THE (POINT) GUARD
Following the graduation of five-year starting point guard Emily Ryan, Iowa State signed Arizona transfer Jada Williams to direct the Cyclone offense in 2025-26. Williams arrives in Ames following two seasons with the Wildcats where she averaged 12.7 points per game as a sophomore, increasing her average to 13.4 points per contest during conference play.
Through 13 games as a Cyclone, the Kansas City, Missouri native has averaged 10.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists per contest. Her assist rate has increased by over 4.5 dimes per game from last season and she has passed her 2024-25 assist total. She finished 8-of-13 from the floor and 5-of-5 at the free throw line against Indiana for her first 20-plus point game as a Cyclone, just two off her career high with 23 points. The 5-8 guard finished with her first career double-double against Valparaiso (Nov. 12) with 11 points and 10 assists, a career high. Williams tallied 11 points and 10 assists against the Jayhawks (Dec. 21) for her fifth double-double of the season. She ranks 24th in NCAA DI women's basketball with her double-double count this season.
OFF TO THE RACES
The Cyclones have started the 2025-26 campaign with a 13-0 record, the best start to a season in over a decade. ISU's 13-0 start to the season is just the second time in program history, both in the Bill Fennelly era, the Cyclones have remained unbeaten through the first 13 regular season games. With a win against Houston, Iowa State would move to 14-0 and match the best start to a season in program history.
