Paul Beauvy Wins the N.I.T.

TUCSON, Arizona - Paul Beauvy has secured his first tournament victory at the N.I.T., shooting fifteen under-par and carding a 201 (67-70-64). Beauvy tied the third-lowest 54 hole score and tied the third-lowest round in school history in the third round, to go along with his lowest round of his career. Beauvy is the third Cyclone to win this tournament (Nick Voke and Scott Fernandez). The Cyclones as a team jumped up four spots to fifth place (288-281-271) after shooting -17 in round three, the lowest out of any team in the round, and the sixth lowest 18 hole score as a team in school history.

Beauvy also scored a hole-in-one on Hole 17's Par 3 to top off his very successful tournament, his second ace of his career. Beauvy finished the tournament with sixteen birdies and two eagles. Right behind Beauvy in round three scoring was Luke Gutschewski, tying the ninth-lowest round in school history with a 65. Gutschewski jumped 20 spots to a tie for 8th place (-9), his thirteenth Top-10 finish. Gutschewski carded fifteen birdies across the three rounds.

Owen Sawyer jumped up nine spots to a tie for 47th (+1), after scoring two-under par in the third round. Sawyer finished with fourteen birdies in the tournament. Zach May tied for 58th, where he shot one-under over the last two rounds. May carded nine birdies in the tournament. Luke Metcalf placed in a tie for 66th (+9) and finished with nine birdies.

Iowa State as a team finished with the lowest average on Par 3's in the tournament, shooting an average of 2.97. The Cyclones also carded the third most birdies in the tournament with 63.

The Cyclones head out west to La Quinta, California for the Prestige at PGA West on Monday, Feb. 17th to Wednesday, Feb. 19th.
