CARLSBAD, Calif. - No. 29 Iowa State is set for the 2025 NCAA National Championships, as the Cyclones will tee off Friday morning in the opening wave of the championship. It will be the second trip to the national final in school history and the first since 2014.Â
THE LEAD
For the second time in program history, the Iowa State women's golf team is headed to the NCAA National Championships. The Cyclonitas also competed in the 2014 NCAA National Championships, finishing in a tie for 23rd. Iowa State earned the berth with a third place finish at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, its highest regional finish in program history. Iowa State will tee off starting at 9:25 a.m. (CT) Friday.

COURSE INFORMATION
Located just north of San Diego in Carlsbad, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's golf courses and facilities are among the best in Southern California. The course will host the NCAA Men's and Women's Championships from 2024 to 2028. It has twice been named a Top 100 course in the country. The North Course, redesigned by Gil Hanse, the course has been restored to its original glory and offers six sets of tees creating flexibility to play from 4,500 to 7,500 yards in order to accommodate players of all skill levels.
CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT
Finals play for the championship consists of three days of stroke play Friday thru Sunday (54 holes), after which the top-15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will be determined. That is followed by a final day of 18 holes of stroke play (Monday) to determine the top eight teams that will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion. The team national champion will be determined by a match-play format that will consist of quarterfinals and semifinals conducted on Tuesday, followed by the finals on Wednesday.
KEY STORYLINES
-This will be the second NCAA Championship appearance for the Cyclones, as they finished 23rd in 2014.
-Iowa State qualified for its 15th-straight NCAA Regional. Overall, it is the 19th appearance in program history.
-The Cyclones won two out of their last three tournaments in the regular season.Â
-Pinprayoon has seven rounds in the 60s this year, the most on the team.Â
-Chookaew has a team-leading five Top 10 finishes, including her first career victory at the Bama Beach Bash.
-Chookaew leads the Cyclones in stroke average at 72.41 this season.
-Chul-Ak-Sorn, Chookaew and Marx all tied for eighth at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, tied for the second-highest regional finish in school history.Â
-Chookaew and Chul-Ak-Sorn tied for fifth at the Big 12 Championship, earning All-Tournament honors. It was the third time for Chul-Ak-Sorn and the second for Chookaew.
-Marx played in the 79th US Open last summer, where she placed 135th. She finished 13th among amateurs in the field.
