AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State women's golf team turned in the best finish in program history this year, finishing in 22nd at the NCAA National Championships. It marked the second trip to the NCAA National Championships in program history, as the 2014 team finished in 23rd. Iowa State earned the berth to the NCAA Championships with a third place finish at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, its highest regional finish in program history.
KEY STORYLINES
-The Cyclones have turned in a Top 25 performance in each of their two trips to the NCAA National Championships, finishing 22nd in 2025 and 23rd in 2014.Â
-Junior Pammy Chookaew led the Cyclones at the NCAA Championships, as she finished in 55th. Her finish was the third-best finish at the NCAA Championships in program history. Chookaew shot a six-over par 222, just two strokes away from making the final round as an individual.Â
-Iowa State qualified for its 15th-straight NCAA Regional this season. Overall, it is the 19th appearance in program history.
-Junior Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn, Chookaew and sophomore Keeley Marx all tied for eighth at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, tied for the second-highest regional finish in school history.Â
-Chookaew and Chul-Ak-Sorn tied for fifth at the Big 12 Championship, earning All-Tournament honors. It was the third time for Chul-Ak-Sorn and the second for Chookaew.
-The Cyclones won two out of their last three tournaments in the regular season.Â
-Freshman Nichakorn Pinprayoon had seven rounds in the 60s this year, the most on the team.Â
-Chookaew had a team-leading five Top 10 finishes, including her first career victory at the Bama Beach Bash.
-Chookaew led the Cyclones in stroke average at 72.54 this season.
-Freshman Alexandra Vidal had the best round of the season, as she fired a 65 in the opening round of the Schooner Fall Classic.Â
-Pinprayoon had the best 54-hole score for the Cyclones, as she shot a 209 (-4) at the Stanford Intercollegiate.Â
-Marx played in the 79th US Open last summer, where she placed 135th. She finished 13th among amateurs in the field.
