AMES, Iowa – Iowa State junior guard Jada Williams has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday afternoon. Williams averaged 31.5 points and 7.5 assists per game in two wins for ISU this week, marks that led all Big 12 players.
Williams poured in a career-high 44 points against Cincinnati and dished out eight assists to help Iowa State get back in the win column. With her combined points and assists, she was involved in 62 of ISU's 93 points (67 percent) in the contest, the highest percentage a single player has contributed in a Division I game this season. Williams' point total also set a new Hilton Coliseum scoring record and marked the best Big 12 Conference single-game total by an Iowa State player. The Kansas City, Missouri native returned Saturday to lead the Cyclones to a win over Arizona with 19 points and seven assists.
Williams finished the week shooting just under 70 percent from the floor, going 15-of-22 against Cincinnati before she finished 8-of-11 against the Wildcats. She also swiped three steals on the week while playing an average of 32.0 minutes per contest.
Iowa State returns to action on Wednesday, January 28th when the Cyclones travel to Lubbock to take on No. 21 Texas Tech. The game is scheduled to tip-off on ESPN+ at 6:00 pm.
