AMES, Iowa – The Cyclones took nine victories and posted seven top-10 ranked program performances to cap the Iowa State Classic.

Riley Beach cut a second off her best 1,000m time to jump from No. 9 to No. 2 in Iowa State history with 2:45.25. The senior stands just behind teammate Makayla Clark who set the school record this season (2:43.24). Beach won the event, while Ashlyn Keeney also hit a PR with 2:47.69 for third. Sophomore Josie Baker joined in clocking PRs with 2:49.63 for fourth.

A feature event of the meet was the men's weight throw invite, where Garret Wagner went out to a season-best 70-5 ¾ (21.48m) to finish second behind Iowa's Ryan Johnson who set the facility record and moved up to rank third in all-time collegiate history. Wagner's mark currently ranks 19th in the nation this season and comes half an inch off his personal best.

The men's weight throw came next, where Nathan Rotherham improved his ISU ranking from No. 10 to No. 8 with 64-0 ¼ (19.51m) for the win, while fellow sophomore Lucas Morrison topped his PR by over five feet to take second. Morrison's throw of 63-10 ½ (19.47m) debuts him at No. 9 in program history.

In the women's weight throw, Kamari Brown also put up a top 10-ranked program performance. The freshman recorded a five-foot PR of 63-11 ½ (19.49m) for second.

All Cyclones advanced to the final in 60m hurdles, with Riyah Burns taking the win for the women in 8.39, an all-time best. Burns moves to No. 7 in Iowa State history. In men's hurdles, Alec Carr won in a season best of 7.80, .01 off his best time that ranks fourth in school history. Grayson Hartman broke eight seconds for the first time this season with 7.99 for third, while multi-eventer Tristan Rheingans clocked a PR of 8.47 to place seventh.

Brooklyn Sandvig lowered her 60m personal best twice on the day as she clocked 7.66 in prelims and 7.61 in the final to secure second. Sandvig made her first appearance on the Iowa State top 10 with the sprint, tying the eighth-fastest performance.

In the women's 200m, Karynne David sprinted to 24.75 to tie the 10th-best performance in school history. David recorded herself as a top 10 ISU 400m performer last week.

Justin Gleason took the victory in the men's long jump, leaping to a season best of 23-0 (7.01m). For the women, Amari Laing won, also hitting a season best with 19-8 ¾ (6.01m) just off her PR that ranks 10th in ISU indoor history.

Iowa State splits up next week for the Valentine Invite in Boston and the Tyson Invite hosted by Arkansas Feb. 13-14.
