AZUSA, Calif. – Iowa State closed out its busy week of action at the Bryan Clay Invite and Mt. SAC Relays. Through the three days of competition at the high-level meets, Cyclones brought in top marks among the nation and NCAA West Prelims qualifying performances.

Six-time All-American Rachel Joseph made her 400m season debut going sub-51 seconds. Joseph clocked 50.98 to take fourth in the invite elite section at Mt. SAC, the fastest outdoor opener of her career and a top 10 time in the nation this season. Joseph has now gone under 51 seconds 11 times in her career.

Candra King came three feet off her school record in the hammer invite elite, tossing 211-3 (64.39m). King hit the mark on her final throw to finish sixth.

In the men's collegiate hammer, Garret Wagner led the Cyclones to second, throwing a season-best 201-4 (61.38m).

Sydney Willits leapt to a season best in the long jump with 20-10 1/2 (6.36m). Willits took third in the invite elite section with the mark hit in the third round.

Jacoby Harmon posted a win for the Cyclones as he ran his second 800m in as many days, finishing first in the invite elite section in 1:49.17.

Later on in the night 1,500m racing began at Bryan Clay, with Makayla Clark her usual fast self. Senior and four-time All-American Clark took on the first 1,500m of her career and timed in at 4:17.34, the fourth-fastest performance in school history. The 800m specialist is fresh off opening her season yesterday. Clark joins teammate Bella Heikes to clock a 4:17, the fastest 1,500m times by a Cyclone since 1990.

Six other Cyclones raced in invite sections along with Clark, with Riley Beach and Ashlyn Keeney bringing in season bests and Josie Baker clocking a personal record.

Two men raced in the elite 1,500m, with Emanuel Galdino running 3:41.04 and Devan Kipyego 3:49.34. Both ran their first 1,500m of the season.

Next week is the 116th Drake Relays. Action at the Blue Oval begins Wednesday, April 22 and continues through Saturday, April 25.
