Nick Caley is in his third season as a graduate assistant at Iowa State and his efforts helped the Cyclones to the 2009 Insight Bowl. He served the 2008 season as a defensive administrative assistant to ISU head coach Paul Rhoads at Auburn when Rhoads was the Tigers’ defensive coordinator. Caley also assisted Rhoads with the Auburn secondary. Caley spent two seasons at Akron as a recruiting assistant with the Zips before moving to a graduate assistant position in 2007.
In his two years as recruiting assistant at Akron, his role was aiding the coaching staff in day-to-day recruiting tasks such as analysis of tapes and questionnaires of prospective student-athletes. He also coordinated recruiting visits, as Akron’s 2005 and 2006 recruiting classes were ranked No. 1 in the Mid-American Conference by Rivals.com. The Canton, Ohio native has a bachelor’s degree from John Carroll and a master’s degree from Akron.
