CEDAR FALLS, Iowa--David Rotich led the 800-meter run from start to finish crossing the line with a winning time of 1:51.91 at the UNI-Dome Open.
In the same event, it came down to the finish line as freshmen Johnny Reel and Richard Newton took third and fourth with times of 1:56.23 and 1:56.36, respectively.
Kellen Burl set a personal-record in the 60-meter hurdles taking third place with a time of 8.06. Teammate Eric Parker finished fourth with a time of 8.23 and ISU's Sterling Frison finished sixth (8.48).
Freshman Gabe Kimpson clocked a time of 50.71 in the 400-meters to take fourth.
In the field events, throwers Kendall Fogle and Chase Madison took second and third with throws of 60-5 ¾ and 59-2 1/4, respectively. Isi Oamen leapt 22-11 in the long jump to take second. Freshman sprinter Leia Jackson led the way for the Cyclone women with her second and third-place finishes. Jackson clocked 1:00.33 in the 400-meter dash to place second and 26.34 in the 200 meters to take third.
"The meet gave our young kids another race and more experience," women's head coach Dick Lee said.
Dawn Caffrey clocked a 3,000-meter time of 10:50.33 to earn fourth place and sophomore hurdler Megan Nielsen took seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.29.
On the field, Nicole Teitsworth tossed 46-3 ¼ to earn sixth in the weight throw and Amy Waggoner earned seventh in the shot (39-7 ¼).
