NORMAN, Okla. - The Iowa State women's tennis team fell to Oklahoma this afternoon in Norman. Freshman Kara Hickey battled a tough three-set match at the No. 2 spot for the Cyclones. She won the first set 6-2 against OU's Irina Lykina. Lykina captured the second set 6-2 and the third set 7-5.
At the No. 1 spot ISU junior Jill Palen and redshirt junior Eve Soriano fought an 8-5 loss in doubles action to Gabby Baker and Chelsea Orr. The Cyclones failed to pick up any singles or doubles matches and lost the match 7-0.
Iowa State returns home next week for the first time this month. The weekend begins with ISU facing Big 12 foe Missouri Friday at noon. Action continues Saturday at Noon against Nebraska-Omaha. Both matches are scheduled to be played outside at Forker Courts. If inclement weather arises matches will be played indoors at Ames Racquet and Fitness.
