AMES, Iowa - Kendra Hanson and Christi Athas will represent Iowa State at the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links, June 20-25 at the Walking Stick Golf Course inn Pueblo, Colo.
Hanson, a sophomore from Forest City, Iowa, won the local qualifier on Wednesday to earn her spot, carding a 77 at Briarwood Golf Course in Ankeny. Athas, a junior from Eldora, Iowa, received an automatic invitation after qualifying for the match play portion of the 2005 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links in Kansas City.
All competitors will complete 36 holes of stroke play with the top 64 players moving on to the match play portion of the tournament.
Athas reached match play competition at both the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links and the U.S. Women's Amateur last summer.
