The Cyclones return to the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals, for a second consecutive year at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. ISU enters the tournament as the sixth seed and will face unseeded Michigan in the first round. The winner of the match-up will then take on the winner of the Nebraska/Hofstra dual.
Iowa State and Michigan have not met on the mat since the 1997 National Duals, a match in which the Cyclones topped the Wolverines, 26-14. ISU holds the all-time record against Michigan, winning 17 of 22 meetings.
In last year's NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals, Iowa State rolled in the opening round with a 20-16 victory over Northwestern. The Cyclones dropped back-to-back losses to eventual champion, Minnesota (32-6) and Missouri (21-18), bowing out of the tournament.
After a strong showing at the Midlands Championship, ISU looks to build upon that momentum as it treks into this weekend's NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals to improve upon last year's performance. Along with Iowa State, two other Big 12 foes are in the bottom half of the bracket, seventh-seeded Oklahoma and unseeded Nebraska. Minnesota, which is vying for its second straight title, is seeded second, while Hofstra is seeded third. Rounding out the bracket is Central Michigan and Cornell.
In the top half of the bracket top-seeded Missouri will open competition against Penn. Oklahoma State, the four seed, will meet up against unseeded Northern Iowa, while fifth-seeded Iowa takes on UC-Davis. Eighth-seeded Northwestern is set to square off against West Virginia to complete first round action.
