HOUSTON, Texas ? Texas A&M-Corpus Christi scored four runs in the third and added one more in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat Iowa State, 6-2, Friday afternoon in the Marriott Houston Hobby Invitational.
The Islanders (2-9) hit a pair of home runs and had seven hits to pick up their second win of the season.

The Islanders got on the board in the third, grabbing a 4-0 lead that was highlighted by a Margo Hurdt two-run homer to left field. Stephanie Estrada hit a sacrifice fly and Andrea Simancas scored on an error by the Cyclones to account for the other runs.
The Cyclones were able to get on the board with Alex Johnson's first career homer. Johnson blasted a shot to center off of Islander hurler Jennifer Cummings in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 4-1.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi got the run back in the fifth and another in the sixth as Estrada doubled to the right field gap and Lauren Peters homered to right center to make it 6-1 in favor of the Islanders.
A Katie Reichling sacrifice fly in the sixth plated Kristy Olsen and made it 6-2, but that was all the closer
Cummings (2-7) got the win for the Islanders, allowing two runs on five hits in the game.
For the Cyclones, Katie Reichling dropped to 0-1 on the season after allowing five runs, two of which were earned, on five hits in 4.2 innings. Amie Ford relieved Reichling in the fifth and allowed one run on two hits.
The Cyclones will be back in action Saturday as they face
