Carlin (5-4) tossed 5.2 innings and allowed just four hits while striking out five to pick up her second straight win.
At the plate, Alex Johnson and Katie Reichling each finished 2-for-3. Kristy Olsen added a hit and scored two runs and Jennifer Bigbee recorded a hit in her only at-bat, a pinch hit single in the third, which drove in two runs.
The Cyclones (10-18) took the lead in the first when Olsen and Alex Johnson scored on an error by Panther third baseman Denee' Menzione.
In the second, freshman Courtney Wray singled to right field off Kathleen Jacoby (4-4) to plate Olsen, who moved into scoring position by stealing second base. Olsen is now 10-for-10 this season on stolen bases.
Bigbee's pinch-hit single in the third scored Amanda Bradberry and pinch runner Kelsey Kidwell. Kidwell pinch ran after Ashley Killeen walked to lead off the inning and Bradberry doubled to right field to move both runners into scoring position.
Ford plunked Katy Steele to lead off the seventh but retired the next three batters to give the Cyclones their second win of the day. ISU defeated UC Riverside, 6-2, in the final game of the National Invitational Softball Tournament.
