Cyclones Fall to Coastal Carolina, 5-2

CONWAY, S.C. ? The Iowa State tennis team fell to Coastal Carolina, 5-2, Thursday. The Cyclones won two singles matches after dropping their three doubles matches. With the loss, ISU drops to 5-5 (0-4), while the Lady Chanticleers improve to 10-3.

In singles action, Iowa State sophomore Kara Hickey defeated Coastal Carolina's Sarize Coetzee in the No. 2 slot, in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-1. With the win Hickey pushes her singles record to 7-6. In the No. 3 slot, ISU's Caitlin Loprinzi defeated Coastal Carolina's Amy Pazahanick in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. The win improves Loprinzi's singles record to 6-5.

In doubles action, Iowa State fell to the Lady Chants in all three matches. ISU's No. 1 duo of Eve Soriano and Hickey were defeated for only the fourth time all year as CCU's pair of Rudman and Pazahanick topped the ISU duo, 8-2.

The Cyclones look to finish their east coast road trip on a high note as they take on Elon in Carry, N.C., on Saturday. Iowa State started their road-trip with a 5-2 victory over UNC-Wilmington on March 13.
