IRVING, Texas - The Iowa State women's golf team was well represented as the Big 12 Conference announced the selection of 40 student-athletes to the 2007 Academic All-Big 12 teams Tuesday. Juniors Kendra Hanson, Karly Pinder and Jessica Shin were named to the first team, the second straight year all three have earned top honors.
Shin added to her list of academic after she registered a 4.0 GPA last year. The Mankato, Minn, native is majoring in biology and was a National Golf Coaches Association academic All-American honoree in 2006. She has also received the High Scholar Award, given to the top 2 percent of her class.
Hanson, a Forest City native, is majoring in elementary education while Pinder is pursuing her degree in marketing. Senior Christi Athas, a native of Eldora, Iowa, was named second team.
The academic all-league women's golf squad consisted of 34 first-team members combined with six on the second team. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA and the second team are those who have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
