Iowa Prep Champs Headed for ISU

AMES, Iowa -- Two-time Iowa prep state champion Dalton Jensen of Missouri Valley and 2007 Class 2-A 152-pound champion Andrew Sorenson of Forest City have signed national letters of intent to attend and wrestle for Iowa State this fall. The pair were a combined 91-1 in 2007.
"Both Dalton and Andrew have demonstrated they have the talent to wrestle in NCAA Division I," Iowa State head coach Cael Sanderson said. "To win collegiate national championships, you need great competition in the wrestling room to elevate your program. This duo will make a contribution."
Jensen finished his prep career with a 180-14 record. His 126 career pins ranks fourth in Iowa prep history. He pinned all four of his state meet opponents en route to the 125-pound title in March. He was 49-1 as a senior, including 39 victories by fall. Jensen was 47-3 as a junior with 36 pins. He placed third in the Iowa state prep meet at 119 pounds that season. Jensen won the 2006 Brute Adidas Nationals 125-pound title.
As a sophomore, Jensen was 44-3 in 2005 and won the Iowa state meet Class 1-A title at 103 pounds. He pinned 31 opponents that season.
Sorenson had two pins and a technical fall en route to the Class 2-A title in March. Sorenson was 42-0 last season. He placed fourth at 135 pounds as a junior while posting a 42-3 individual mark.
