Wrestling Tourney to Honor Former ISU Grapplers

AMES, Iowa?Former two-time All-American grappler, Ron Jones, and brother, Don, both members of the 1965 Iowa State national championship wrestling team, will play host to the first annual Ron and Don Jones Invite Dec. 20 in Iowa Falls.
Ron, who currently suffers from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) which is a member of the Parkinson's family, was the head wrestling coach at Iowa Falls High School and compiled a 134-43-3 mark at the helm. Don ran the junior varsity program. Under their tenure, Iowa Falls had seven North Central Conference team titles, 15 state place winners and a pair of state champions.
The invitational is the first regular-season tournament Iowa Falls has ever staged. Iowa Falls-Alden, Iowa City High, Clarksville, North Butler, Algona, West Marshall, and the junior varsity squads from Perry and West Des Moines Valley will take part in the tourney's debut.
All former Iowa Falls wrestlers under the Joneses are invited to the 11 a.m. tournament free of charge. Others from their past, including high school and college teammates and opponents, or just friends and casual acquaintances, are also invited to help celebrate the event.
