LINCOLN, Neb.- Seven Cyclone sprinters qualified for Saturday's events on Friday, as Iowa State traveled to Lincoln, Neb. for the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Lashawn Wright highlighted the first day of competition, qualifying for the 200-meter dash final. The Mesquite, Texas native matched her time of 24.49 from last week's ISU Open, in a meet which she took home the title. On the men's side, Derron Montgomery ran a 48.48 in the 400-meter dash to qualify for finals on Saturday.
Also qualifying for consolation races for the women's team are Megan Nielsen and Myranda Casterline in the 60 meter hurdles, Brittany Machacek in the 400-meter dash, Leia Jackson in the 200-meter dash and Wright in the 60-meter dash. Sterling Frison qualified in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.37 seconds.
Events for the Cyclones begin tomorrow at 1:50 p.m. with the women's mile run. The men's 4x400-meter relay will close out the meet, scheduled for 6:41 p.m. Complete results will be posted on cyclones.com.
