AMES, Iowa- Ryan Paul captured 2,690 points and currently sits in a tie for sixth place after the first four events of the men's heptathlon at the ISU Classic, Thursday at the Lied Recreation Facility.
Paul sprinted to a 6.72 second effort in the 55-meter dash and sat in a tie for second place after the first event of the heptathlon. The Prescott, Wis. native then leaped a 21-04 in the long jump, tossed the shot 38-08.75 and jumped a 5-08.75 in the high jump. Paul sits tied with Justin Bohler of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Brian Clay, competing unattached, leads the event with 3,584 points.
The heptathlon, along with more of the ISU Classic, will continue tomorrow at 10:15 a.m. The ISU Classic will wrap up on Saturday. Results will be available on Cyclones.com.
