> Iowa State will end its regular season schedule when it travels to face Georgia Friday.
> The Cyclones are in their 35th season of gymnastics. Iowa State holds a 395-429-4 all-time record and has made 12 NCAA Regional appearances in school history, including the last 11 seasons.
> Iowa State set a season high on beam against Nebraska on March 14 with a score of 48.950. Jasmine Thompson led ISU with a score of 9.825 while Anna Robey set a career-high with her 9.800. Ashley Kent also netted a 9.800 for the Cyclones. Ceilia Maccani (9.775) and Jody McKellar (9.750) also had their scores count.
> The Cyclones' score of 195.125 against Iowa on Feb. 22, was the team's top score of the season. Iowa State boasted individual champions in all four events, as Megan Barnes (vault, 9.825), Ashley Kent (beam, 9.825), Katie Sweetin (floor, 9.875) and Thompson (bars, 9.825) claimed top honors.
> Thompson's all-around victory against Iowa was her second such title and the third for an ISU gymnast this season. She also took the all-around crown at Minnesota while Dilbert placed first against Stanford.
> Iowa State's Feb. 22 victory over Iowa further padded the Cyclones' lead in the Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series. ISU holds an 18-7 lead in the rivalry series.
> The Iowa State coaching staff is in its second season in Ames. Head coach Jay Ronayne guided the Cyclones to a second-place finish in the Central Region in his first season at the helm of the ISU program. Also in their second season are assistant coaches Jay Santos and TeShawne Jackson, and director of gymnastics operations Mary Ronayne. Eight-time All-American Janet Anson is in her first season as a volunteer assistant coach.

A Closer Look at Georgia
> The Bulldogs are 9-2 this season. They are fresh off a victory over No. 10 UCLA in which they put up a season-high score of 179.900.
> Georgia is the No. 1 team in the nation and have held that distinction for the last eight weeks.
> The Bulldogs have undertaken one of the most difficult schedules in the nation this season, having already faced seven teams ranked in the top-10 and three others who were in the top-25. Iowa State is one of two unranked opponents on Georgia's schedule. The only losses this season for Georgia have come against No. 3 Utah and No. 4 Michigan. They boast victories over No. 1 Florida, No. 4 Alabama, No. 5 Stanford, No. 5 LSU and No. 10 UCLA.
> Georgia will host the NCAA Championship meet, which will be held from April 24-26. The Bulldogs have won eight national titles, including the last three.
> Georgia holds a 9-0 advantage over Iowa State in the all-time series.
> Of the nine meetings between Iowa State and Georgia, only three have come in the regular season. Of the remaining six matchups, four were in regional competition while the other two came at the NCAA Championship meet in 2005 and 2006.
Cy-Hawk Clincher
> Already sporting a 16-5 advantage in the Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series, the Iowa State gymnasts added to the lead with a win over Iowa on Feb. 22. Even though the Hawkeyes beat ISU in a rematch on March 7, the Cyclones have a 18-7 lead to claim the rivalry competition for the second time in three years. There is only one more event remaining in the series, a softball matchup on April 1 in Ames.
Captain of the Ship
> Ashley Kent and Jasmine Thompson will serve as Iowa State captains for the 2008 season. Kent, a junior from Calgary, Alberta, was a regular on bars and beam in a freshman season that earned her the ISU Most Improved Gymnast Award. She missed most of the 2007 season after suffering a knee injury in the third meet of the year. Thompson, a junior from McDonald, Ohio, was a key contributor in all-around competition last year after redshirting her initial collegiate season. She earned the Mari-Rae Sopper Award Jan. 19, against Nebraska signifying the most outstanding and inspiring performance.

> Eight-time All-American and two-time Big 12 Gymnast of the Year (2006, 2007), Janet Anson is on the Iowa State coaching staff this season, serving as the volunteer assistant coach. Anson was a two-time ISU Female Athlete of the Year (2004, 2006) and in 2007, claimed the American Award, which is given to the top Division I gymnast.
On Their Way to Ames
> Michelle Browning (Houston, Texas) and Celine Paulus (Yorba Linda, Calif.) will join the Cyclones for the 2008-09 academic year after signing National Letters of Intent last semester. Browning comes to ISU from Champion Gymnastics in Houston. An all-around gymnast, she finished second on bars and 15th on beam at the 2007 Level 10 Junior Olympic Nationals. Paulus finished 11th on bars at the JO Nationals before an injury on beam prevented her from completing the meet. Paulus added top 10 finishes in all five events at the regional championships.
A Look Back at 2007
> Coming off the first Super Six appearance in program history, the Iowa State gymnastics team experienced an up-and-down 2007 campaign. The graduation of five key seniors and a coaching change in the off-season made the season a time of transition. The highs included Janet Anson earning her eighth All-America honor in addition to her second Big 12 Gymnast of the Year Award, an accolade she shared with Nebraska's Emily Parsons. Freshman Megan Barnes also represented ISU well as Big 12 Newcomer of the Year. The Cyclones just missed competing at the NCAA Championships after tying Oklahoma in at the Regional meet. The Sooners advanced by two-tenths of a point when the sixth score for each team was added.
