AMES, Iowa ? Five of Iowa State's track and field team members will travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Alex Wilson Invitational at the University of Notre Dame on Friday. The five competing in the distance medley relay are James Galvan, Derron Montgomery, Hillary Bor, Jayden Russ and Brandon Rooney. Competition will be stiff as they shoot for an NCAA provisional qualifying time. The squad will need a time of 9:45.70.
Last weekend at the Big 12 Championships in Lincoln, Neb., the men's distance medley took fourth place with a time of 9:59.97.
In addition, this weekend the Cyclones will play host to the NCAA Qualifier meet at the Lied Recreational Center. Competition will be at an all-time high as runners from all over the nation go head-to-head for NCAA qualifying marks.
Cyclone competitors include Dan Fagden, Kevin Born and Tiffanie Synacek. Fagden took eighth in the mile run at the Big 12 Championship with a mark of 4:15.55 and Synacek will compete in the high jump, her best mark set at 5-08.75. Born regionally qualified in cross country last year and will run the mile.
Events will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. with the weight throw.
