DES MOINES, IA ? Iowa State's distance runners placed high in track and field action in the Jim Duncan Relays Friday at Drake Stadium.
The Cyclones battled tough weather conditions, and successfully overcame the conditions by having four runners finish in the top three in their respective events.
The ISU women impressed by taking second, third and forth place in the 5,000-meter run. Stacey Thiel led the pack of Iowa Staters with a time of 18:20.78, and was followed by teammates Mackenzie Madison and Brittany Rover, who followed with times of 18:53.60 and 19:01.41, respectively.
The men's side was equally impressive with an effort led by sophomore Zach McFall. The Cyclone finished the 5,000-meter run in second place with a time of 15:12.17. He was followed by freshman Clayton Carper, who netted his second top-three finish of the year; his first in the 5,000, in 15:12.32.
