Herrera in Medal Race After Day One

ANN ARBOR, Mich. ? Junior golfer Ben Herrera fired a combined 139 (70-69) Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich., and stands in a tie for fifth place at the Wolverine Intercollegiate. Iowa State recorded a team total of 575 (290-285) and is in a tie for eighth place. Host Michigan leads the team race (557) and Wolverine Nick Pumford leads all individuals (136).

Nate McCoy, making his Cyclone debut, was ISU's second-best finisher, carding rounds of 72-73 and finishing the day in a tie for 38th. Thomas Lathrop (147), Michael Wuertz (148) and Nathan Leary (152) also competed for the Cyclones.

The Wolverine Intercollegiate will wrap up tomorrow with the final 18 holes starting at 8:30 a.m. Final results will be posted to cyclones.com at the conclusion of the tournament.
