AMES, Iowa ? Iowa State's track and field team will take seven individuals to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships June 10-13 in Fayetteville, Ark. The group includes defending NCAA 10,000-meter champion Lisa Koll and returning 3,000-meter steeplechase All-American Hilary Bor.
Koll won the 2008 NCAA 10,000-meter title in Des Moines, Iowa. The Fort Dodge native lapped all but five individuals in the 2008 field, winning the race in 32:44.95. Her best effort in the race is the 32:11.13 clocked in a race last season. It was an American Collegiate Record at that time.
Bor's 8:36.84 effort placed him fourth as a freshman in the NCAA 3,000-meter steeplechase final last season. Cyclone junior Jenna Caffrey, an NCAA qualifier in the 100-meter hurdles in 2007 and a Burlington native, has made that field this season. Cross country All-American Grace Kemmey returns to run the 10,000 meters after finishing 10th in Des Moines last season.
Three Cyclones are making their NCAA outdoor track meet debuts. Former Des Moines Roosevelt distance runner Kiel Uhl will represent the Cyclones in the men's 10,000 meters. Luke Pinkelman will throw the shot after finishing fifth in that event at the NCAA Midwest Regional last weekend and regional 5,000-meter runner up Betsy Saina will run that event in Fayetteville.
